The Way of the Fool

The way of the fool seems right to him, but a wise man listens to advice.

Pride only breeds quarrels, but wisdom is found in those who take advice.

Listen to advice and accept instruction, and in the end you will be wise.

Okay. So let me admit that I have a tendency to think out loud - in other words speak while still processing my thoughts. The point of my blog is simply to throw down whatever it is I may be thinking about at any particular moment. Is everything I say/write true? No. It just helps me process my thoughts as well as allows others to see and speak into my thinking. I am happy that Jim B. decided to post a rebuttal to my last post. It means that someone is trying to help me process my thinking better (at least that's what I hope his post was about, it may have just been trying to put me in my place - which I probably could use too).

So pride on the shelf, I admit that I do not know who to vote for this upcoming Tuesday. I have to believe it is more than political party. I think both candidates have some key things I like and both have keys that I dislike. So this is YOUR chance to weigh into my decision making process. Please let me know who you think I should vote for and why by leaving a comment on this. This is not to breed argument or frustration, it is to make sure I along with anyone else who reads this is informed come Tuesday the 4th.

I promise to read, listen, and learn. Thanks in advance for your feedback.

You'll always be Lang to me!
You know how I dislike the idea of calling people stupid, even the ones I am convinced truly are! But, it is wonderful to see how you are being touched by Halter and Smay's book. I, too, read that with a new found hope that the amazement of salvation and belief in the Christ of the Scriptures is alive and well. Not necessarily measurable by the "experts" like Mr. Barna, but in Christ coming to live in the lives of some of the vast majority of the world that do not know Him.
How good it is for all of us to seek wisdom, but how quickly we get way-laid by "intelligence." It seems that the later is available in abundance, but is hardly ever viewed the same by two people, while the former comes with a life-changing event. (Even though that change make take a life time to happen!)
I cannot help but admit that I am totally proud to call you my son, but even more ecstatic to know that we are brothers sharing in the mystery that is Christ Incarnate within us. Keep holding to that truth, and you will truly find that you have a freedom that is not a product of nationality, race or religion, but is a gift of Grace from the only author of Freedom.
Love,
DAD

I got this e-mail from Debra Thomas:

"just an fyi for all of you interested. Dean Kuest finally decided on who he would vote for - McCain or Obama...He checked into public records on their charitable giving... Obama and Biden both gave $ 1,000 each to charity last year - McCain gave 26% of his personal income...That is what made Dean's decision..."

I am (self-admitantly) pretty ignorant when it comes to all the nitty-gritty details of politics...and part of me is relieved that I don't even have to vote (yay Canada!).

I DO NOT think that Christians are "required" to vote for the Republican party. Another blog that I read was going off on a tangent about how she's sick and tired about how Christians take a WWJD approach to voting. But seriously...as Christians, should that NOT be our goal? And I'm NOT saying McCain is the answer. But...it does really scare me that we are living in a country that is becoming so morally off balance. God is not going to continue to bless a country that is quickly becoming a Sodom & Gomorrah...and that's pretty scary. So as Christians...I know about the whole separation of church and state thing...but...should our goal NOT be to please Christ?

Either way...we are called to pray for our leaders. So here I am, the non-American (taking advantage of this pretty nice country) praying for the election...and I will continue to pray for our president...be it Obama, or McCain.

Landon, I'm impressed with your humility and how you are handling Jim's comment on your blog. It takes a mature person to handle it the way you did. I hope you can feel at peace with who to vote for.

Landon, I was undecided. And even when I filled in that line on my early ballot, I felt sick to my stomach, like I was making the wrong choice, yet I couldn't bear to vote for the other candidate.
And my decision was based on one issue that I decided I wouldn't budge on.
I know that's not the best way to go about it, but it was either that way or completely not voting at all.
I can only pray that the right person wins...still unsure who that might be.
